Néstor Cortés delivered six scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a game against the Mariners on Wednesday, but did not receive a decision.

In an extra-inning victory over the Mariners on Wednesday, Néstor Cortés pitched six shutout innings, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out six. Despite facing trouble in three of his six innings, Cortés managed to escape unscathed each time. He induced six groundouts and struck out six batters. However, due to a lack of run support, he was not credited with his 10th win. The 29-year-old lefty will bring a 3.77 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 162/39 K/BB ratio over 174 1/3 innings into his next start against the Orioles in New York on Tuesday.

Yoán Moncada made his first appearance in a game after returning from injury.

In Thursday's defeat against the Angels, Moncada went 0-for-1. This marked his first game back after being activated from the injured list. He came in as a pinch-runner during the 12th inning and struck out in his sole plate appearance. Moncada has not yet secured a regular spot in the White Sox's lineup as the season comes to a close, having not started in any of the three opportunities since his return. White Sox manager Grady Sizemore shed some light on the situation, indicating uncertainty regarding Moncada's role with the team. Sizemore mentioned, “We are still focused on giving [Bryan] Ramos and [Miguel] Vargas playing time at third base. They are part of our future plans, unlike Moncada whose role remains unclear.”

Adolis García helped lead the Rangers to a 2-0 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday by hitting a two-run homer in a 1-for-4 performance.

The sixth-inning home run by Adolis García secured the only two runs of the game. This marked his second home run of the month and only his fifth since the beginning of August, reflecting a decline in power during the latter part of the season for the 31-year-old slugger. Despite his batting average of just .196 and an OPS of .656 in September, Adolis has remained a productive run contributor, having driven in 16 runs in 15 games this month. Across 601 plate appearances, Adolis has a slash line of .218/.281/.391 with 23 home runs, 64 runs scored, 80 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.

Yuli Gurriel solidifying his position as a regular starter.

In the game against the Tigers on Wednesday, Yulieski Gurriel, positioned as the starting first baseman and batting fifth in the lineup, had a successful performance, going 2-for-3 with a RBI and a walk. Gurriel has been consistently starting games for the past four games and is currently on a hitting streak spanning five games. His recent performances suggest that he has solidified his position as the primary choice for first base in Kansas City. Since his transfer from Atlanta on August 31, Gurriel has maintained an impressive .385/.455/.462 slash line, scoring five runs and five RBI in his initial ten games with the Royals. Despite his age of 40, Gurriel is determined to prove that he remains a strong hitter deserving of increased playing time in Major League Baseball.

Yennier Cano overcomes forearm tightness issue.

On Wednesday, Cano mentioned that he had been struggling with tightness in his right forearm. However, he has now recovered and is ready to pitch, according to Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun. Cano has not pitched for a week, but he stated that he would have been prepared to enter the bullpen during Tuesday's 10-0 defeat against the Giants if necessary. Cano has maintained a 2.78 ERA with a 59:21 K:BB ratio over 55 relief innings for the Orioles in 2024.

RHP Yosver Zulueta has been called up by the Reds from Triple-A Louisville.

Having made nine relief appearances for the Reds this season, Yosver Zulueta has given up nine runs (eight earned) and has a 14:6 K:BB ratio over 13 innings. His presence will offer additional support to Cincinnati's bullpen.

On Wednesday, Miguel Vargas did not record any hits against the Angels.

While Miguel Vargas has been given more opportunities at third base this season, his hitting performance remains poor. In the recent game against the Angels, Vargas went 0-for-4 with a strikeout and managed to drive in a run with a sacrifice fly. Despite concerns about his playing time with the Dodgers affecting his hitting, Vargas has yet to prove himself since joining the White Sox. His current season stats stand at a disappointing .110/.208/.165 with 1 HR and 6 RBI in 34 games and 125 plate appearances, resulting in a high strikeout-to-walk ratio of 36:12.

Andy Pagés had a 1-for-3 performance on Wednesday.

Andy Pagés went 1-for-3 and scored a run in an 8-4 victory over the Marlins on Wednesday before being substituted. The run brings Pages' total to 56 for the year, accompanied by a .247/.302/.388 slash line in 109 games. Despite hitting 10 home runs and 39 RBIs in 417 plate appearances this year, Pages' power has not carried over from his time in the Minors.

Yandy Díaz was not in the starting lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Yandy Díaz was given a rest during the Wednesday game against Boston. He came in as a pinch hitter but unfortunately went 0-for-1 with a strikeout in the team's 2-1 defeat.

Luis Robert Jr. did not feature in the lineup for the game against the Angels on Wednesday.

Luis Robert Jr. was given a break during the A's game in the afternoon Wednesday. This season has been challenging and disappointing for him, particularly due to his ongoing struggles with strikeouts and a low walk rate. Despite these concerns for the team, his combination of speed and power, demonstrated by 22 stolen bases and 14 home runs, continues to make him a valuable player. At the start of the season, Luis Robert was expected to achieve 31 home runs, 87 RBIs, and 18 stolen bases. However, he has only excelled in stolen bases so far, with just 35 RBIs due to injuries.
