Yandy Díaz extends hitting streak to 17 games.

Yandy Díaz came through with a tie-breaking RBI single in the eighth inning on Monday, propelling the Rays to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Mariners. Yandy Díaz capped off Tampa Bay’s late-inning rally by chopping a go-ahead run-scoring single into right field off Seattle closer Andrés Muñoz. The 32-year-old on-base machine has heated up at the dish of late, notching multi-hit performances in five of his last six games since June 19. He’s also homered twice during that span, just for good measure.

Adolis García goes deep in loss.

Adolis García went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's loss to the Brewers. Garcia gave the Rangers a 3-1 lead with his sixth-inning blast, though the advantage was wiped out on a Rhys Hoskins grand slam in the bottom of the frame. As with Hoskins, García's homer ended an extended power drought -- the outfielder hadn't gone deep in any of his past 17 games and had driven in just one run during that span. García is tied for the Rangers' lead with 14 long balls on the season, but he's below pace to match the 39 homers and 107 RBI he racked up last year.

On Monday, Adrián Morejón blew a save against the Nationals.

On Monday, Morejón allowed one run on three hits and struck out one while pitching an inning against the Nationals. In the seventh inning, Morejón's run helped the Nationals tie the game 3-3. Padres walk-off victory over Nats with four runs in the bottom of the 10th inning. However, among the six batters Morejón faced, three reached base. It was Morejón's first blowout save in 25 appearances this season, despite allowing four runs over 11.2 innings this month.

Aledmys Díaz went 0-for-3 with a strikeout as Oakland’s No. 9 hitter Monday against the Angels.

The A’s got ridiculously lucky that someone took Jace Peterson off their hands last summer, so they’ll keep giving Díaz the occasional start in the hopes that lightning will strike twice. The 33-year-old Díaz is 3-for-27 since returning from a calf injury on May 28. He hit .229/.280/.337 last year in the first season of a two-year, $14.5 million contract.

Daysbel Hernández went scoreless once again.

The right-hander pitcher continued his scoreless streak this week by pitching 1 2/3 innings against St. Louis in a 4-3 loss on Monday. In addition to striking out two, he allowed one hit. With a ratio of 10:3 SO:BB, Diasbel keeps his ERA blank in 7 2/3 innings and 7 games this season.

Miguel Vargas with one hit Monday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers started Miguel Vargas in left field for Monday's game against the Chicago White Sox. Vargas batted sixth and went 1-for-2 leaving his slash line in .333/.382/.567 for the year while he is compiling a .412 BA (7-for-17) in his last 7 games.

Yosver Zulueta is ready for MLB debut with the Reds.

The Reds are expected to recall Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville prior to Tuesday's game against the Pirates. Once a top pitching prospect in the Blue Jays system, Zulueta's development was sidetracked by Tommy John surgery in 2019 and a right knee injury that kept him out for most of the 2021 season. He was cast off the Blue Jays' 40-man roster in March and was scooped up by the Reds, who optioned him to Louisville coming out of spring training. The 26-year-old righty has thrived out of the Triple-A bullpen this season, riding an upper-90s fastball and plus slider to a 2.84 ERA and 40 punchouts over 31.2 innings. Zulueta has exhibited some control problems both this season (14.5 percent walk rate) and throughout his minor-league career, so the Reds may be inclined to deploy him in lower-leverage spots initially.

Mariners promoted OF prospect Lázaro Montes to High-A Everett.

Lázaro Montes’ meteoric rise continues as he earns a promotion to High-A after slashing a robust .309/.411/.527 with 13 homers, 72 RBI and one steal in 309 plate appearances over 65 games for Low-A Modesto to open the year. The 19-year-old prodigy could find himself in the upper minors by the end of the 2024 campaign and is rapidly emerging as one of the top prospects in the league.
