Yordan Alvarez, the Houston Astros outfielder and designated hitter, returned to the lineup on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins and pitcher Trevor Rogers. Alvarez, who had left Saturday's game prematurely due to a pitch hitting his right knee, took on the role of designated hitter and batted third. Despite not playing on Sunday, the 27-year-old All-Star showed a quick recovery following a rest day on Monday. In the game on Tuesday, he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

Although Soler was an option from the bench, he refrained from participating in the game. The experienced hitter has a batting average of .224 (64-for-286) with 10 home runs, 32 RBIs, and 45 runs scored in his debut season with the Giants.
Yosver Zulueta optioned to Triple-A.
The Reds have optioned Yosver Zulueta to Triple-A Louisville. Zulueta will head back to the minors in a corresponding move for Nick Lodolo returning from the injured list. He will remain a depth option for the Reds in Louisville.

Nevertheless, despite hitting a crucial home run in the eighth inning to put Los Angeles ahead 4-3 against the Brewers on Saturday, he has struggled since then, going 0-for-8 with three strikeouts. Vargas has not been a regular starter, having only been in the lineup for three games out of Los Angeles' last 10 matches.
