White Sox's Jose Abreu: Set to sit Wednesday. Interim manager Miguel Cairo said Abreu won't start Wednesday's season finale against the Twins, James Fegan of The Athletic reports. Abreu went 1-for-3 with a double and a run during Tuesday's 8-3 win, and it will apparently be his final start of 2022. Through 156 games this year he has a .304/.378/.446 slash line with 40 doubles, 15 home runs, 75 RBI and 85 runs in 157 games. The veteran first baseman is finishing up his ninth season with the White Sox but is slated to hit free agency during the offseason.

Yordan Álvarez went 3-for-5 with three doubles and a pair of runs scored as the Astros demolished the Phillies on Tuesday evening in Houston.
Álvarez doubled and rode home on Kyle Tucker's three-run blast as part of the Astros five-run uprising in the opening inning. He also smacked a double in the eighth inning and was driven in on an RBI single by Jake Meyers. The 25-year-old slugger has had another outstanding season at the dish, slashing a robust .304/.405/.612 with a career-high 37 homers and 96 RBI in 134 games.
Aroldis Chapman worked a perfect seventh inning in the Yankees' defeat of the Rangers on Tuesday.
Chapman went 1-2-3 with two strikeouts in the 14-pitch frame. He's struggled badly since his return from the injured list in mid-September, but this outing should help his odds of cracking the postseason roster.
Adolis García went deep in Game 1 of doubleheader Tuesday reaching 100-RBI milestone.
Adolis Garcia went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs and two strikeouts in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees. Garcia gave the Rangers a 4-3 lead with a two-run home run in the fifth inning off Jameson Taillon. It was García’s 27th homer of the season, bringing his RBI total to exactly 100 in 2022 - in the second game he collected his RBI #101 - after logging 90 in his rookie year in ‘21. He became the first Rangers hitter to log a 100-RBI season since Nomar Mazara in 2017. García also joins Iván Rodríguez and Alfonso Soriano as the only Texas hitters to log 25 homers, 25 stolen bases and 100 RBIs in a season.
Yandy Díaz (shoulder) was back in the Rays' starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.
Díaz returned to Tampa Bay's lineup for their penultimate regular season contest at Fenway Park after missing 11 of the team's last 12 games due to an ongoing left shoulder issue. Díaz went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in a shortened (5 innings) 6-0 loss to the Red Sox. The 31-year-old on-base machine is hitting .296/.401/.423 with 71 runs scored, nine home runs, 57 RBI and three stolen bases across 558 plate appearances.
Randy Arozarena got the day off on Tuesday against the Red Sox.
Arozarena got a rare day off for the Rays' penultimate regular season contest. It was versatile Vidal Bruján who got a chance in right field on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.
