Braves' Rasiel Iglesias: Effective in Braves sweep over the Mets.

Raisel Iglesias pitched a scoreless inning in Braves 5-3 win over the Mets on Sunday night, completing a three games sweep that put Atlanta on the verge of its fifth consecutive National League East title. Iglesias used 13 pitches - 10 of them for strikes - for a scoreless seventh inning with the score already 5-3. The right-hander allowed a single but had no much trouble holding his 14 game of the season. With his outing Iglesias' ERA went down to 2.51 for the year, while his WHIP is now 0.97. Iglesias has been unbelievable for the Braves after coming over from the Angels with 25 1/3 IP, 27:4 K:BB, and a 0.36 ERA.

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Two more hits on Sunday.

It seems that Gurriel is getting ready for the 2022 postseason. On Sunday, the veteran infielder went 2-for-4 in a 3-1 victory against the Rays. It was his fourth consecutive game with at least a single. Gurriel ended the afternoon game with two singles, lifting his BA to .243 for the year, and in a positive sign for his team, he is now showing a slash line of .286/.310/.393 with 6 RBI in his last seven games. In the same game Yordan Álvarez went hitless in three at bats with a walk and a strikeout.

Rays manager Kevin Cash told reporters after Sunday's game that Yandy Díaz was held out of the lineup for the second consecutive game simply to rest.

The Rays want him to be fully healthy and ready to go for the start of the postseason, so they're taking it easy on him down the stretch. Cash indicated that Díaz would only play in one game during their final series of the regular season against the the Red Sox that begins in Boston on Monday.

José Iglesias was absent from the Rockies starting lineup on Sunday afternoon against the Dodgers.

While Iglesias had played regularly at shortstop since returning from the injured list, he got a breather in this one. Ezequiel Tovar started in his place and hit eighth against Dodgers left-hander Tyler Anderson.

Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Erratic, once again.

Aroldis Chapman faced five hitters and allowed four to reach base in the seventh inning of New York’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Orioles. Chapman allowed one hit, two earned runs and three walks – including a bases-loaded pass to Gunnar Henderson that forced in the go-ahead run – before taking the loss in the Yankees’ final home game of the season.

Afterward, Chapman didn’t have a specific explanation for his erratic outing. “Nothing in particular,” the 34-year-old said through an interpreter when asked about his control issues. “Haven’t been executing consistent strikes. Been something that has happened to me this season.” Chapman, who lost his job as the Yankees’ closer earlier this season, saw his ERA jump to 4.58 on Sunday.

White Sox' Yoán Moncada and José Abreu: One hit combined on Sunday.

Yoán Moncada and José Abreu went 1-for-7 on Sunday's 2-1 victory against the Padres. Moncada went hitless in four at bats with a strikeout while Abreu had a single, walked, and struck out. With the single Abreu's batting average is now .304 for the year.

Yankees' Nestor Cortés: Dominates again in win. Cortés (12-4) earned the win Saturday, allowing one hit and two walks over 7.1 scoreless innings against the Orioles while striking out 12. Cortés put on a clinic Saturday, striking out seven of the first nine batters he faced while never allowing a runner to reach second base. He generated 20 swinging strikes and dominated Orioles hitters with his four-seamer all afternoon. The left-hander has now pitched 13.1 scoreless innings over his last two starts while allowing just two hits over that stretch. His 12 strikeouts Saturday also matched a career high.

Astros' Yuli Gurriel: Knocks in two. Gurriel went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI on Friday against the Rays. Gurriel tallied two separate RBI knocks, including a single in the fourth inning and a double in the final frame. Despite hitting just .200 across his last 10 games, Gurriel has managed seven RBI in that span. He's maintained a .240/.286/.359 line across 567 plate appearances for the season.

Astros' Yordan Álvarez: Two hits in return. Álvarez went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored Friday against the Rays. Álvarez missed one game due to an ankle injury, but he returned to extend his hitting streak to five games. Though he'll likely get some days off prior to the postseason, Álvarez is closing the regular season well by hitting .360 with 15 runs scored and 16 RBI across 22 games in September.
