Randy Arozarena went 3-for-4 with two RBI and also stole a base on Thursday in the Rays' lopsided victory over the Blue Jays.
Arozarena, who missed time earlier this week following an altercation with teammate Yandy Díaz, put the Rays ahead in the early stages of the contest with an RBI double off Blue Jays starter José Berríos in the opening frame. He also added an RBI single in the ensuing frame and picked up his 32nd stolen base of the season in the ensuing frame. Arozarena has also recorded three multi-hit games in his last five contests, with three RBI and three runs scored over that span. The 27-year-old outfielder, who has also delivered 19 homers this season, finds himself just four steals behind Marlins speedster Jon Berti for the major league lead in the stolen base department.
Luis Robert (hand, wrist) was held out of the White Sox starting lineup once again on Thursday.
It's the second straight game that Robert has missed due to the nagging soreness in his left hand/wrist. It certainly sounds like he'll be day-to-day for the remainder of the regular season. AJ Pollock started in his place in center field on Thursday and batted seventh against Shane Bieber and the Guardians.
Yandy Díaz (shoulder) remained out of the Rays' starting lineup on Thursday versus the Blue Jays.
Díaz has been sidelined for most of this week because of soreness in his left shoulder. He reportedly got into an off-field altercation with teammate Randy Arozarena on Monday night, but all parties involved claim that it did not become physical. Díaz, 31, is sitting on a .292/.399/.419 season slash line.
Astros' Aledmis Díaz and Yordan Álvarez: Hitless on Thursday.
Díaz and Álvarez were 0-for-7 combined on Thursday' 2-0 loss to Baltimore at Camden Yards. Díaz struck out twice while Álvarez was 0-for-3 leaving his BA at exactly .300 for this year. It has been a phenomenal season for Álvarez who is slashing .300/.402/.618 with 94 RBI, 131 hits, and 63 extra-bases that includes 24 doubles, two triples, and 37 HR.
Yankees' Aroldis Chapman: Struggles in outing.
Chapman struggled in his job as a reliever this Thursday after only being able to get one out in a 5-4 win against the Red Sox. Chapman threw 16 pitches - only 6 of them for strikes - walking two and striking out one. The Cuban has had one of his worst seasons, with a 4.36 ERA and losing his closer role.
Yuli Gurriel was absent from the Astros starting lineup for Thursday's matchup against the Orioles.
It looks to be just a breather for the 38-year-old first baseman. Trey Mancini started in his place at first base while Yainer Diaz functioned as the club's designated hitter and batted eighth against Kyle Bradish and the O's on Thursday night in Baltimore.
Oakland's Norge L. Ruíz: Allowed a run in outing.
Norge L. Ruíz threw 1 1/3 innings on Thursday's 9-5 loss to the Mariners. The righthander threw 17 pitches - 12 of them for strikes - allowing one earned run with a single. He had no walk or strikeout in the game and saw his ERA climbing to 6.46 on his MLB season debut.
White Sox' Yoán Moncada, José Abreu, and Yasmani Grandal: One hit each on Thursday's loss.
Moncada, Abreu, and Grandal all went 1-for-4 with a strikeout in a 4-2 loss to the Guardians on Thursday's night. Abreu, the most veteran of the group, is sitting on another great season slashing .308/.381/.450 with 15 HR, and 72 RBI. For Abreu it could be his fourth season over the .300 mark, since his debut back in 2014 when he won the ROY award with 36 HR, 131 RBI, and slash line of .317/.383/.581.
Padres' Adrián Morejón: Fifth hold of the year.
Morejón record four outs in an appearance against the Cardinals on Thursday, allowing two earned runs on on hit and one walk. He didn't struck out a hitter and was still able to get a hold in a 5-4 loss. Morejón's ERA for the year is now 4.60.
Reds' José Barrero: Remained out of lineup. Barrero didn't start Thursday against the Brewers. Barrero is on the bench for a second consecutive matchup after going 2-for-12 with a run and five strikeouts over his last three games. Kyle Farmer will start at shortstop and bat third.
