The roster of the Cuban national team for the 2022 U23 Baseball World Cup in Taiwan got revealed today.

Five of the 24 players also were in the 2020 U23 World Cup - celebrated in 2021 because of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic -, including pitcher Naykel Cruz, catcher Andrys Pérez, and outfielder Guillermo García.

The squad is led by manager Alaín Álvarez. Retired long time Cuban National Team super star Pedro Luis Lazo will be serving as one of the pitching coaches.

The 2022 U23 Baseball World Cuba will be played between October 13 and October 23 at three different locations: Dou-Liou, Taichung Intercontinental, and Taipei Tianmu Stadiums.

For Cuba this will be its second participation in these editions of the tournament. Cuba was fourth place in the last edition of the U23 World Cup in 2021, held in Hermosillo and Ciudad Obregón, Mexico. For this 2022 edition, Cuba was included in Group B of the tournament, alongside with teams from The Netherlands, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea, and Australia. Group A consists of teams from Colombia, Germany, Japan, South Africa, the host country, and the defending world champion, Venezuela. After completing the qualifying round, the first three places in each group will advance to the next phase of the tournament.
