The Tigers won their second title in five years with a 7-2 victory in game seven over the hard fighting Isla de la Juventud Pirates, in their first ever championship series.

The Tigers punched their ticket to the Finals with a 3-0 win over the Granma Colts in Game 5 on Tuesday afternoon at José R. Cepero Park.

The Tigers won the Cuban Championship in 2012 defeating the Industriales Lions in five games.

It started out with small ball: a dead ball, a single, a bunt, and another single. By the time the 8th inning was over on Monday night, the Tigers had scored seven runs, Yeniet Pérez had hit a single for the ages and the Ciego de Avila Tigers were running away with Game 4 of the Cuban semifinals.

When they resume in Matanzas for Game 6, Jonder Martínez starts for the Crocodiles against Yoalkis Cruz in a rematch of Game 2, won by the Pirates 4-2 in eleven innings.

Pirates advance to the Postseason

Isla de la Juventud completed a three-game sweep of Industriales Thursday night with a 6-5 win at Latinoamericano Stadium in Havana.

The Pirates (49-38) extended their current win streak to six games (8 of last 10) and advance to the 2015 Cuban Postseason for the first time since 2009 during the 48 National Series.

The reigning champs, Pinar del Río, were officially eliminated from the playoff.

The Pirates, who has never won a Cuban National Championship, will visit the Matanzas Crocodiles in Game One of the NS Semifinals on Tuesday night.

54th National Series: Granma Stops Artemisa

Urmani Guerra went 3-for-3 with a trio of RBIs to lead the Granma Horses to a 12-2 romp over the Artemisa Hunters Wednesday afternoon in Cuban National Series action.

The Horses roughed up Artemisa starter Jose Luis Padron (1-2) early with four runs in the opening frame, and chased the right-hander with another four-run frame in the third.
