2015 USA Pan American Baseball Roster Announced

USA Baseball has announced today its 2015 U.S. Pan American Men’s Baseball Team roster. The team will compete in the Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario (baseball competition to be held in Ajax), July 10 to 19. The U.S. roster features 24 players not currently on Major League Baseball 40-man rosters.
The Kansas City Royals led all Major League clubs with four players from its farm system named to the team. The Chicago Cubs, Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies, and Texas Rangers each placed two players on the club, and the remaining players each came from one of 12 other big league organizations.
Among those named to the team include Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Albert Almora (pictured), who is currently ranked No. 49 on MLB.com's Top 100 prospects list. The roster also features Arizona Diamondbacks pitching prospect Aaron Blair, who was recently promoted to Triple-A after being selected No. 36 overall in the 2013 MLB draft.
The 2015 Pan Am team roster has a wealth of international experience with four players having previously worn the red, white and blue. Alumni include Tommy Murphy (2011 Collegiate), Casey Kotchman (’98-‘99 16U), and Jake Barrett (’08 18U). Almora is also a Team USA alum, with 2015 marking his seventh Team USA appearance (’07-’08 14U, ’09-’10 16U, ’10-’11 18U).
Jim Tracy will manage the team in Canada, and he will be joined on the coaching staff by pitching coach Marcel Lachemann, hitting coach, Ernie Young, and assistant coaches Jim Lett and Roly de Armas.
Tracy, who brings 856 wins and 11 years of Major League managerial experience, has an internationally experienced staff with Lachemann, Young and de Armas, who have all previously coached with Team USA. Young also played, and won gold, at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
The Pan Am Team will first gather in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex where it will train from July 4 to 8. The U.S. will then depart for Toronto for the Pan American Games where it will look to win its first Pan Am gold since 1967. First round action kicks off on July 11, against Puerto Rico at the President’s Choice Ajax Pan Am Ballpark.
The 2013 World Baseball Classic Team was the latest professional team fielded by USA Baseball. In the most recent Pan American Games, the 2011 club earned the silver medal with a 3-2 record, falling to Canada in the gold-medal game.
