Roel Santos al Chiba Lotte

El cubano Roel Santos oficializó este miércoles la firma de su contrato con el equipo Marineros de Chiba Lotte de la Liga Profesional japonesa de béisbol.

«Mi objetivo es salir a divertirme y tratar de poner la bandera de Cuba bien alto en ese país», sentenció tras rubricar el documento en el habanero estadio Latinoamericano.

Marines sign Cuban outfielder Santos

The Chiba Lotte Marines have agreed on a deal worth $200,000 with Cuban outfielder Roel Santos, the Pacific League club said Thursday.

The 29-year-old Santos, who throws and bats left-handed, is known for his speed and defensive skills, and served as the leadoff hitter for the Cuban national team at the World Baseball Classic in March.

He is scheduled to arrive in Japan as soon as he clears visa issues.

2017 Caribbean Series: Granma Horses Roster Announced

The Cuban National Series champion, the Granma Horses, has announced its roster for the 2017 Baseball Caribbean Series.

The list of players includes 12 pitchers, 2 catchers, 9 infielders, and 5 outfielders.

Granma added 9 reinforcement players to its original roster.

The 2017 Caribbean Series will be played in Culiacan, Mexico, from February 1-7.

The Cuban Team opens the CS on February 1 against Dominican Republic at 3:00pm, with games against Puerto Rico (Feb 3), Venezuela (Feb 4), and Mexico (Feb) to follow.

Serie del Caribe'2017: Granma anuncia su nómina

El equipo de los Alazanes de Granma, que tomará parte en la edición 2017 de la Serie del Caribe, fue dado a conocer esta tarde.

El elenco, coronado campeón nacional de Cuba por vez primera apenas el pasado domingo, presenta un total de 27 jugadores con una selección de 9 refuerzos, de cara al enfrentamiento caribeño. 

En general, otros siete jugadores también se encontraban con el equipo como refuerzos, ya sea de la segunda etapa del torneo cubano o de la Postemporada. 

2017 Cuban Finals: Granma Sweeps Ciego de Avila for Cuban Championship

No one said it would be so easy. There have been five sweeps in Cuban championship history. Granma made it six, winning their first Cuban championship with a game four 3-2 win.

Guillermo Aviles drove in Alfredo Despaigne from third with a sacrifice fly to drive in the game winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Granma scored the run without benefit of a hit, three walks loading the bases and advancing Despaigne to third.
