The qualification system for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics has been unveiled during the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Executive Committee meeting in Paris.
Just six teams will participate in the Olympic tournament and the WBSC is planning a round-robin format but they could not confirmed.
The host, Japan, is already qualified for the tournament.
TBD: To be determined
Tokyo Olympic organizers are planning to hold part of the baseball and softball competition in Fukushima, a region devastated by the 2011 earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster.
Regarding any concerns about having competition in Fukushima, WBSC president Riccardo Fraccari said "From the data I have received, the situation is not dangerous in Fukushima.". "The situation is fine now so I don't think we will have any problems three years on.", he added.
The last Olympic baseball tournament was celebrated in 2008 in Beijing, China, and the South Korea National Team won the championship beating Cuba 3-2 in the Finals.
