Industriales hire Víctor Mesa as manager

Víctor Mesa, the formerly star outfielder can’t stay away from the “surprising plays” and his appointment as head coach of the Industriales Lions certainly has been one of the most commented piece of news among baseball fans since yesterday.

The Lions announced on Wednesday the highly anticipated hiring of Víctor Mesa as the new manager for a team that hasn’t won a championship in seven years.

Mesa, 57, who led the Matanzas Crocodiles to six playoff berths in six seasons before leaving the team after last season semifinal elimination, was introduced as the Lions’ 18th manager at a news conference Wednesday.

With Mesa taking over, there could be more than one opening on the team staff, that already confirmed the presence of pitching coach Rogelio García, and trainers Carlos Tabares and José Elosegui.
