The 2019-20 Cuban Baseball National Series (59th BNS) will get underway on Saturday, August 10. It will feature the game between the Villa Clara Leopards and Las Tunas Woodcutters at Julio A. Mella Stadium in Las Tunas at 2:15 pm (ET).

The traditional Opening Day is also scheduled for August 10 in other seven stadiums, continuing with the format established last year, to allow the season to end before the Caribbean Series in February.

Opening Day will feature 8 matchups and the most interesting games will have Granma visiting Pinar del Río and its returning manager, Alfonso Urquiola; Industriales hosting Ciego de Ávila at Latinoamericano Stadium in Havana; and, of course, the defending champion, Las Tunas, facing Villa Clara at Julio A. Mella in Las Tunas.

Apart from the usual calendar stuff in the schedule we have the following important dates:

    • The first half of the season will begin on August 10 and it will end on October 7
    • From October 8-11, makeup for all suspended games
    • From October 13-17 the Qualifying Play Off series to define the last two teams for the second half of the season will take place
    • The players draft for the second half of the season will take place on October 18
    • The always much talked celebrations for the All-Star Game between the East and the West will occur on October 19 and October 20
